Our story began when Dionilde came to Oregon from Oaxaca, Mexico. He started farming at the age of 16 and spent 17 years working at Denison Farms in Corvallis. During that time, we learned so much — from plant propagation to bookkeeping — and began to dream about creating a farm of our own.

With the encouragement of Tom and Elizabeth Denison, we were able to lease a few acres of their original farmland. That’s how Little Garden Farm was born. The name comes from what we used to call our home garden. After work, Dionilde would say, “Let’s go to the little garden to see how your crops are doing.” When we decided to farm full time, it felt natural to keep that name.

Farming is truly a family project. Our children help with harvesting and packing, and even our youngest, Anthony, will grow up surrounded by the fields.
We grow many fruits and veggies. At home, we also grow traditional crops from Oaxaca — corn, pole beans, Chilacayote squash, and herbs like Pápalo and Epazote — which connect us and our children to our cultural roots.

For us, farming is more than work. It’s about raising our children on healthy food, protecting the land, and honoring the traditions we carry with us. We’re grateful to be part of this community and to share the fruits of our labor with you.
